                心經附註序                                                                                 
西山先生▒文忠公  嘗 取聖賢格言▒心經一編  首危微精一十有六言                                      心經   
而以子朱子尊德性之銘  終焉  走每敬誦之  蓋儼乎若上帝之下臨                                          心經   
聖師之在目也  然猶疑其註中  或稱西山讀書記  而凡程朱大儒開示警切之言                                心經   
多不在卷  感此經本出先生而註  則後人雜入之故邪                                                      心經   
齋居之暇  謹▒之▒校  且附註其下  而識其首曰  嗚呼                                                  心經   
人之得名▒人  可以▒才而出萬化者    以能不失其本心而已                                              心經   
顧其操縱得失于一念俄頃之間  聖狂舜   於是焉分  其可畏如此古之人所以▒涵養本原之計者                心經   
至不敢撤琴瑟而發箴儆于左右  使體立用宏顯微不二                                                      心經   
用底于希聖希聖之極功  有以也    性學不明                                                            心經   
人心陷▒  寄命于耳目  騰理于口舌  此先生之所深悲而心經所由述也                                      心經   
然則學則宜何所用而後  無 于人之名哉    蓋嘗反覆紬繹                                                心經   
得程子之說  曰  天德王道  其要只在謹獨  又曰  學者須是將敬以直▒涵養                                心經   
直▒是本  朱子亦曰  程先生有功于後學  最是敬之一字                                                  心經   
敬者聖學始終之要也  蓋是經所訓  不出敬之一言  故其語約而義精                                        心經   
其功簡而效博  誠所謂障川之柱  指南之車  燭幽之鑑                                                    心經   
大有功于斯道  而造次顚沛  不可忽焉者也  晩生末學  何所知識                                          心經   
輒手錄成帙  以告同志者  而於言敬之說  特加詳焉  豈敢以是求多于先生之書哉                            心經

舜禹授受  十有六言  萬世心學  此其淵源  人心伊何  生於形氣有好有樂                                  心經   
有忿有   惟欲易流  是之謂危  須臾或放  衆慝從之道心伊何                                            心經   
根於性命  曰義曰仁  曰中曰正  惟理無形  是之謂微毫芒或失                                            心經   
其存幾希  二者之間  曾弗容隙  察之必精  如辨白黑知及仁守                                            心經

其用弗窮  若寶靈龜  若奉拱璧  念 在   其可弗力相古先民                                            心經

   聖賢格言  自▒之贊者也  先生之心學  繇考亭而▒濂洛洙泗之源                                      心經

  可以對越而無愧  其臨民也  若保赤子  痒 疾痛▒切於吾身                                            心經

程氏▒心曰  赤子心是人欲未 之良心  人心卽覺於欲者  大人心是義理具足之本心                          心經   
道心卽覺於義理者  此非有兩樣心  實以生於形氣                                                        心經   
則不能無人心  原於性命  則所以▒道心  自精一擇執以下                                                心經   
無非所以 人欲而存天理之工夫也  愼獨以下    是 人欲處工夫                                          心經   
必至於不動心  則富貴不能淫  貧賤不能移  威武不能屈  可以見其道明德立矣                              心經   
戒懼以下  存天理處工夫  必至於從心  則心卽體                                                        心經   
欲卽用  體卽道  用卽義  聲▒律而身▒度  可以見不思而得  不勉而中矣                                  心經   
要之用工之要  俱不離乎敬  蓋心者一身之主宰  而敬又一心之主宰也                                      心經   
學者熟究於主一無適之說  整齊嚴肅之說  與夫其心收斂常惺惺之說                                        心經   
則其▒工夫也盡  而優入於聖域  亦不難矣<按>                                                          心經

帝曰  人心惟危  道心惟微  惟精惟一  允執厥中                                                        心經   
朱子曰  心之虛靈知覺  一而已矣  而以▒有人心道心之異者  以其或生於形氣之私                          心經   
或原於性命之正  而所以▒知覺者不同  是以或危殆而不安                                                心經   
或微妙而難見爾  然人莫不有是形  故雖上智不能無人心                                                  心經   
亦莫不有是性  故雖下愚不能無道心  二者雜於方寸之間                                                  心經   
而不知所以治之  則危者愈危  微者愈微  而天理之公  卒無以勝夫人欲之私矣                              心經   
精則察夫二者之間而不雜也  一則守其本心之正而不離也                                                  心經   
從事於斯  無少間斷  必使道心常▒一身之主  而人心每聽命焉                                            心經   
則危者安微者▒  而動靜云▒  自無過不及之差矣  ○                                                    心經   
<附註>  朱子曰  堯舜以來  未有議論時  先有此言  聖人心法無以易此                                    心經   
經中此意極多  所謂擇善而固執之  擇善卽惟精也  固執卽惟一也                                          心經   
又如博學審問謹思明辨  皆惟精篤行  是惟一也  中庸明善惟精也                                          心經   
誠身惟一也  大學致知格物  非惟精不可  能誠意則惟一                                                  心經   
學者只是學此理  孟子以後失其傳  亦只是失此  ○  問人心道心                                          心經   
伊川說  天理人欲▒是  曰  固是  但此不是有兩物  只是一人之心                                        心經   
合道理底  是天理  徇情欲底  是人欲  正當於其分界處理會                                              心經   
五▒云  天理人欲  同行異情  說得最好                                                                心經   
      潛室陳氏曰  五▒此語   當玩味  如飮食男女之欲  堯舜與桀紂同                                  心經   
      但中理中  中節  卽▒天理  無理無節  卽▒人欲                                                  心經

○  又曰  道心雜出於人心之間  微而難見  故必須精之一之而後                                          心經   
中可執  然此又非有兩心也  陵子靜云  舜若以人心▒全不好  則須說使人去之                              心經   
今止說危者  不可據以▒安耳  精者欲其精察而不▒所雜也                                                心經   
此言亦自是  ○  問道心惟微  曰  義理精微難見  且如利害最易見                                        心經   
是粗底  然鳥獸已有不知之者  又曰  人心道心只是爭些子                                                心經   
孟子曰  人之所以異於禽獸者幾希  ○  問危是危動難安否                                                心經   
曰  不止是危動難安  大凡徇人欲  自是危險  其心忽然在彼                                              心經   
又忽然在四方萬里之外  莊子所謂其熱焦火  其寒凝   凡苟免者                                          心經   
皆幸也  動不動  ▒是墮坑落塹  危孰甚焉  ○  問聖人亦有人心                                          心經   
不知亦危否  曰  聖人全是道心主宰  故其人心  自是不危                                                心經   
若只是人心  也危  故曰惟聖罔念作狂  ○  勉齋黃氏曰  以堯舜之聖                                      心經   
處帝王之尊  而所以自治其心者如此  世之學者  不知此心之▒重                                          心經   
任情縱欲  驕逸放肆  念慮之頃  或升而天飛  或降而淵淪                                                心經   
或熱而焦火  或寒而凝   如狂惑喪心之人  雖宮室之安                                                  心經   
衣服之適  飮食之宜  亦茫然莫之覺也  豈不深可憫哉  聖賢垂訓                                          心經   
炳然明白  學者亦蓋深思而熟玩之哉  ○  西山▒氏曰  人心惟危以下十六字                                心經   
乃堯舜禹傳授心法  萬世聖學之淵源  先儒訓釋雖衆                                                      心經   
獨朱子之說  最▒精確  夫聲色臭味之欲  皆發於氣  所謂人心也                                          心經   
仁義禮智之理  皆根於性  所謂道心也  人心之發  如 鋒如悍馬                                          心經   
有未易制馭者  故曰危  道心之發  如火始然  如泉始達  有未易充廣者                                    心經   
故曰微  惟平居莊敬自持  察一念之所從起  如其▒聲色臭而發                                            心經   
則用力克治  不使之滋長  知其▒仁義禮智而發  則一意持守                                              心經   
不使之變遷  夫如是  則理義常存  而物欲退聽  以之酬酢萬變                                            心經   
無往而非中矣  ○  魯齋王氏曰  朱子謂人心道心不同  以其或生於形氣之私                                心經   
或原於性命之正  ▒曰私  卽人欲矣  又曰人心                                                          心經   
不可謂之人欲  何也  蓋原字  自外推入  知其本有  故曰微                                              心經   
生字  感物而動  知其本無  故曰危  正字私字  皆見于外者  故人心不可謂之人欲                          心經

○  愚謂  詩意雖主伐紂而言  然學者平居  諷詠其辭  凜然如上帝之實臨其上                              心經   
則所以▒閑邪存誠之助  顧不大哉  又見義而無必▒之勇                                                  心經

程子曰  毋不敬  可以對越上帝  ○  龜山楊氏曰  道無顯微之間                                          心經

鄭氏曰  神見人之▒也  汝無謂是幽昧不明  無見我者  神見汝矣○                                        心經   
朱子曰  言視爾友於君子之時  和柔爾之顔色    其戒懼之意                                              心經   
常若自省  曰豈不至於有過乎  蓋常人之情  其脩於顯者  無不如此                                        心經   
然視爾獨居於室之時  亦當庶幾不愧于屋漏  無曰此非顯明之處                                            心經   
而莫予見也  當知鬼神之妙  無物不體  其至於是  有不可得而測者                                        心經   
不顯亦臨  猶懼有失  況可厭射而不敬乎  此言不但脩之於外                                              心經

甚不苟  年九十五歲  猶命▒臣  使進規諫  至如抑詩是他自警之詩                                        心經

氣象自是不同  ○  西山▒氏曰  此武公自警之詩也    人之常情                                          心經   
祗敬於▒居者易  兢畏於獨處者難  子思作中庸  推明其說  曰微之顯                                      心經   
誠之不可 也  嗚呼武公  其聖賢之徒與                                                                心經   
      疊山謝氏曰  莊子云  ▒不善於顯明之中者    人得而非之                                          心經   
      ▒不善於幽暗之中者  鬼神得而責之    君子無人非無鬼責                                          心經   
      亦此意也                                                                                      心經   
易乾之九二  子曰庸言之信  庸行之謹  閑邪存其誠                                                      心經   
程子曰  庸信庸謹  造次必於是也  ○  又曰  閑邪則誠自存  不是外面將一箇誠來存▒                      心經   
○  又曰  如何是閑邪  非禮勿視聽言動                                                                心經   
邪斯閑矣  ○ <附註> 程子曰  閑邪  ▒▒甚工夫    惟是動容貌                                          心經   
整思慮  則自然生敬  敬只是主一  主一則  ▒不之東  又不之西                                          心經   
如此則只是中  ▒不之此  又不之彼  如此則只是▒  存此則天理自然明                                    心經   
學者須是將敬以直▒  涵養此意  直▒是本    ○  又曰                                                  心經   
閑邪則誠自存  如人有室垣牆不修  不能防寇  寇從東來  逐之則▒有自西入                                心經   
逐得一人  一人▒至  不如修其垣牆    則寇自不至                                                      心經   
故欲閑邪也  ○  又曰  敬是閑邪之道  閑邪存其誠    雖是兩事                                          心經   
然亦只是一事  閑邪則誠自存矣  天下有一箇善一箇▒  去善卽是▒                                        心經   
去▒卽是善  譬如門  不出▒入  ○  朱子曰  常言▒信  常行▒謹                                        心經   
但用閑邪   他入來  此正是無射亦保之意    無射亦保                                                  心經   
雖無厭▒  亦當保也  保者持守之意  ○  臨川吳氏曰  程子謂思無邪者                                    心經   
誠也  此邪字  指私欲▒念而言  有理無欲    有善無▒                                                  心經   
是▒無邪  無邪斯不妄  不妄之謂誠  以大學之目  則誠意之事也                                          心經   
易文言傳曰  閑邪存其誠  此邪字  非私欲▒念之謂  誠者  聖人無妄▒實之心也                            心經   
物接乎外  閑之而不干乎▒  ▒心不二不雜  而誠自存                                                    心經   
以大學之目  則正心之事也  凡人昧然於理欲善▒之分者                                                  心經   
從欲作▒  如病狂之人  蹈水入火  安然不以▒非  蚩蚩蠢蠢  冥頑不靈                                    心經   
殆與禽獸無異  其次頗知此之▒理▒善    彼之▒欲▒▒                                                  心經   
而志不勝氣  閑居獨處之際  邪思興焉  一有邪思  卽 制之  乃不自欺之誠也                              心經   
夫▒無邪思  則所思皆理皆善矣  然一念才起  而一念▒萌                                                心經   
一念未息  而▒念相續  是二也  是雜也    匪欲匪▒                                                    心經   
亦謂之邪  此易傳臣  閑邪之邪  非論語無邪之邪也  蓋必先能屛絶私欲▒念之邪                            心經   
而後可與治療二而且雜之邪  誠意而正心  其等豈可 哉                                                  心經

易坤之六二  曰  君子敬以直▒  義以方外  敬義立而德不孤  直方大                                      心經   
不習無不利  則不疑其所行也                                                                          心經   
伊川先生曰  敬立而▒直  義形而外方  義形於外  非在外也  ○又曰                                      心經   
主一之謂敬  直▒  乃是主一之義  至於不敢欺不敢慢  尙不愧于屋漏                                      心經   
皆是敬之事也  但存此涵養  久之自然天理明  ○                                                        心經   
又曰  心敬則▒自直  ○  龜山楊氏曰  盡其誠心而無▒焉  所謂直也                                      心經   
若施之於事  則厚薄隆殺一定而不可易  ▒有方矣  所主者敬                                              心經   
而義則自此出焉  故有▒外之辨  ○ <附註> 程子曰  學者不必遠求                                        心經   
近取▒身  只明人理  敬而已矣  ▒是約處    易之乾卦                                                  心經   
言聖人之學  坤卦言賢人之學  惟言敬以直▒  義以方外  敬義立而德不孤                                  心經   
至于聖人  亦止亦是  ▒無別途    穿鑿繫累自非道理                                                    心經   
故有道有理  天人一也  ▒不分別浩然之氣  乃吾氣也  養而不害                                          心經   
則塞乎天地  一▒私心所蔽  則 然而   知其小也  思無邪無不敬                                        心經   
只此二句  循而行之  安得有差  有差者    皆由不敬不正也                                              心經   
      問必有事焉而勿正  孟子本▒養氣設    程門乃轉作養心法                                          心經   
      如何  潛室陳氏曰  孟子一書  持敬工夫少  如此二句最細密                                        心經   
      然亦只施於養氣  所謂事者  指義直而言  大▒工夫較 些                                          心經   
      所謂孟子有  英氣謂此  程門愛此二句  借轉作養心法                                              心經   
      養心以養氣  故其所事者  持敬工夫  其說▒細  然其下工夫處                                      心經   
      亦不過如孟子之節度耳                                                                          心經   
○  又曰  敬義夾持  直上達天德自此                                                                  心經   
      問夾持之意  朱子曰  最下得此兩字好  敬主乎中  義防於外                                        心經   
      二者相夾持要放下 然不得  只得直上去  故▒達天德○                                            心經   
      又曰  表▒夾持  ▒無東西走作去處  上面只有箇天德○                                            心經   
      又曰  敬義▒外交相養  夾定在這▒  莫敎一箇有些走失                                            心經   
      如此則下不染於物欲  只得上達天得也                                                            心經   
○  問丹書  敬勝怠者吉  怠勝敬者滅  義勝欲者從  欲勝義者凶                                          心經   
朱子曰  敬▒▒立  怠▒放倒  以理從事是義    不以理從事是欲                                          心經   
這敬義是體用  與坤卦說同                                                                            心經   
      西山▒氏曰  武王之始踐 也  訪丹書於太公  可謂急於聞道者矣而太公所告不出敬與義之一言          心經   
      蓋敬則萬善俱立  怠則萬善俱喪                                                                  心經   
      義則理▒之主  欲則物▒之主  吉凶存亡之所由分                                                  心經   
      上古聖人已致謹於此矣  武王聞之 若戒懼而銘之器物以自警焉                                      心經   
      蓋恐斯須不存而怠與欲得乘其隙也  其後孔子贊易                                                  心經   
      於坤之六二  曰敬以直▒  義以方外  先儒釋之  曰敬立而▒直                                      心經   
      義形而外方  蓋敬則此心無私邪之累  ▒之所以直也                                                心經   
      義則事事物  物各當其分  外之所以方也  自黃帝而武王                                            心經   
      自武王而孔子  其實一道也                                                                      心經   
○  問敬以直▒  義以方外  曰  說只恁地說  須自去下工夫  方見得是如此                                心經   
敬以直▒  是無纖毫私意  胸中洞然徹下  表▒如一                                                      心經   
義以方外  是見得是處  決定不恁地截然方方正正  須是自將去做工夫                                      心經   
聖門學者問一句  聖人答他一句  ▒領略將去    實是要行                                                心經   
如今說得 多  只是不曾將身已做  若實把做工夫  只是敬以直▒義以方外                                  心經   
八箇字  一生用之不窮  ○  朱子堂旁兩夾室  暇日默坐                                                  心經   
讀書其間  名其左曰敬齋  右曰義齋  記之  曰嘗讀易而得其兩言                                          心經   
曰敬以直▒義以方外  以▒▒學之要  無以易此  而未知所以用力之方也                                    心經   
及讀中庸  見所論脩道之敎  而必以戒愼恐懼▒始                                                        心經   
然後得所以持敬之本  又讀大學  見所論明德之序  而必以格物致知▒先                                    心經   
然後得所以明義之端  ▒而觀夫二者之功  一動一靜  交相▒用                                            心經   
又有合乎周子太極之論  然後知天下之理  幽明鉅細遠近淺深                                              心經   
無不貫乎一者  樂而玩之  足以終吾身而不厭  又何暇夫外慕哉                                            心經   
○  程子曰  切要之道  無如敬以直▒  ○  又曰  敬以直▒                                              心經   
有主於▒則虛  自然無非僻之心  必有事焉  須把敬來  做件事者▒                                        心經   
此道最是簡最是易  又省工夫  ▒此語雖近似常人  然持之久必別                                          心經   
○  又曰  有言未感時  知如何所寓  曰  操則存  舍則亡                                                心經   
出入無時  莫知其鄕  ▒ 生尋與寓  只是操而已  操之之道                                              心經   
敬以直▒也  ○  尹和靖嘗言  先生敎人  只是專令敬以直▒                                              心經   
若用此理  則百事不敢妄作  不愧屋漏矣  習之▒久  自然有所得也                                        心經

      或曰  敬何以用功  程子曰  莫如主一  蘇季明曰  ▒常患思慮不定                                  心經   
      或思一事未了  他事如麻又生  曰不可  此不誠之本也                                              心經   
      須是習  習能專一時  ▒好  不拘思慮與應事  皆要求一                                            心經   
      ○  問主一無適  朱子曰  只是莫走作    如今人                                                  心經   
      一事未了  又要做一事  心下千頭萬緖  ○  又曰  學問只要專一                                    心經   
      如修養家想無成有  釋氏想有成無  只是專一  然他底難                                            心經   
      自家道理  本來是有  只要人  去理會  甚順且易                                                  心經   
      又如莊子用志不分  乃疑於神  亦是如此敎人  但他只是箇空寂                                      心經   
      儒者之學  則有許多道理  若看透徹    可以貫事物                                                心經   
      可道洞古今  ○  又曰  古今自少小時  ▒做了這工夫  如學射時                                    心經   
      心若不在  何以能中  學御時  心若不在  何以使得馬                                              心經   
      書數亦然  今▒自小不曾做得  不奈何  須▒從今做去                                              心經   
      若不做這工夫  ▒要讀書看義理  恰似立屋無基址  且無安頓屋材處                                  心經   
      得此心有箇存主  然後▒學▒有歸▒  若此心雜然昏亂                                              心經   
      自無頭當  ▒學從那處去    又何處是收功處                                                      心經   
      故程先生須令於敬上做工夫  正▒此也                                                            心經   
○  程子曰  整齊嚴肅  則心自一  一則無非僻之干矣  又曰  嚴威儼恪                                    心經   
非敬之道  但致敬須從此入                                                                            心經   
      朱子曰  伊川整齊嚴肅一▒  是切至工夫  說與人  ○  又曰                                        心經   
      比因朋友講論  深究學者之病  只是合下欠▒持敬工夫                                              心經   
      所以事事滅裂  其言敬者  又只說能存此心  自然中理  至於容貌詞氣                                心經   
      往往全不加功  設使▒能如此存得  亦與釋老何異                                                  心經   
      又況心慮荒忽  未必▒能如此存得邪  程子言敬  必以整齊嚴肅                                      心經   
      正衣冠尊瞻視▒先  又言未有箕踞而心不慢者                                                      心經   
      如此乃是至論  而先聖說克己▒禮  尋常講說  於禮字  每不快意                                    心經   
      必訓作理字然後已  今乃知其精微縝密  非常情所能及耳                                            心經

○  上蔡謝氏曰  敬是常惺惺法                                                                        心經   
      朱子曰  惺惺乃心不昏昧之謂  只此▒是敬  今人說敬以整齊嚴肅言之                                心經   
      固是  然心若昏昧  燭 史誦詩之類  是規戒警誨之意                                              心經   
      無時不然  被他恁地 後  自住不得  大抵學間                                                    心經   
      須是警省  又因言瑞巖僧  每日間    常自問主人翁惺惺否                                          心經   
      否  自答曰  惺惺  今時學者▒不能如此  又引釋氏說心云不得跳擧                                  心經   
      不得昏▒  是他見得此心只有兩項  跳擧是走作                                                    心經   
      時  昏▒是放倒時  惟敬則都無此病  或問謝氏之說  佛氏亦有此語                                  心經   
      曰其喚此心則同  而其▒道則異  吾儒喚醒此心欲他照管許多道理                                    心經   
      佛氏則空喚醒在此  無所作▒                                                                    心經   
○  和靖尹氏曰  敬者其心收斂  不容一物之謂                                                          心經   
      和靖自言  初見伊川先生時  敎某看敬字  某請益  先生曰                                          心經   
      主一則是敬  當時雖領此語  不若近時看得▒親切  ○  祁寬問如何是主一                            心經   
      先生曰  敬有甚形影  只收斂身心▒是主一                                                        心經   
      且如人到神祠中致敬時  其心收斂▒▒不得毫髮事  非主一而何                                      心經

○  朱子曰  敬者聖學之所以成始成終者也  觀程子謝氏尹氏數說                                          心經   
足以知其用力之方矣  或問三先生言敬之異  曰  譬如此室四方皆入得                                      心經   
若從一方入至此  則三方入處  皆在其中矣                                                              心經   
      西山▒氏曰  持敬之道  當合三先生之言  而用力焉  然後▒外交相養之功始備                        心經   
      ○  勉齋黃氏曰  敬者主一無適之謂                                                              心經   
      程子語也  然師說又以敬字惟畏▒近之  蓋敬者此心肅然有所畏之名                                  心經   
      畏則心主於一  如入宗廟  見君父之時  自無雜念                                                  心經   
      閑居放肆之際  則念慮紛擾而不主於一矣  二說蓋相表▒                                            心經   
      學者體之則可見矣  ○  覺軒蔡氏曰    敬字之義甚大                                              心經   
      大  先師朱子 集程門論敬要語詳且密矣  黃氏又述先師敬字之義                                    心經   
      惟畏▒近之  尤精切  蓋人之一心  虛靈知覺  常肅然而不亂                                        心經   
      炯然而不昏  則寂而理之體無不存  惑而理之用無不行                                              心經   
      惟夫虛靈知覺  ▒不能不 於氣  又不能不動於欲                                                  心經   
      則此心之體用  亦將隨之而昏且亂矣  此所以不可不敬也                                            心經   
      苟能 然悚然  常若鬼神父師之臨其上  深淵薄 之處其下                                          心經

      ▒近之  其說不可易矣  嘗卽其本原而深思之  敬該動靜                                            心經   
      主一亦該動靜  無事時此心湛然常存  此靜而主一                                                  心經   
      也  有事  時心應此事  ▒不雜以他事  此動而主一也  輕而主一                                    心經   
      卽  中者  天下之大本  動而主一  卽和者  天下之達道                                            心經   
      若玩周子一者  無欲之一  程子涵養吾一之一  朱子一者                                            心經   
      其心湛然  只在這▒之一  則知靜之主一  其太極之境界與                                          心經

欲誘之也  誘之而弗知  則至於滅天理而不反  故目欲色耳欲聲                                            心經   
以至鼻之於香  口之於味  四支之於安佚  皆然  此皆有以使之也                                          心經   
然則何以窒其欲  曰  思而已矣  學者莫貴於思  惟思而能窒慾                                            心經   
曾子三省窒慾之道也  ○  伊川先生謂張思叔曰  吾受氣甚薄                                              心經   
三十而浸盛  四十五十而後完  今生七十二年  校其筋骨                                                  心經   
於盛年無損也  思叔請曰  先生豈以受氣之薄  而厚▒保生邪  先生默然曰                                  心經

益之象曰  風雷益  君子以  見善則遷  有過則改                                                        心經   
新安王氏曰  遷善改過  益莫大焉  ○  程子曰  見善能遷  則可以盡天下之善                              心經

○伊川先生曰  罪己責躬不可無  然亦不當長留在心胸▒悔                                                心經   
      朱子曰  悔字難說  ▒不可常存在胸中▒悔    又不可不悔                                          心經   
      若只說不悔  則今番做錯且休  明番做錯又休    不成說話                                          心經   
      問如何  是▒中底道理  曰  不得不悔  但不可留滯  ▒做錯此事                                    心經   
      他時▒遇此事  或與此事相類  ▒須懲戒  不可再做錯了                                            心經

○  上蔡謝氏與伊川先生別一年  往見之  先生曰    做得甚工夫                                          心經   
謝曰  只去得箇矜字  曰  何故  曰  子細點檢來  病痛盡在這▒                                          心經   
若按伏得這箇罪過  方有向進處  先生點頭  語在坐曰  此人▒學                                          心經   
切問近思者也  ○  朱子曰  遷善當如風之速  改過當如雷猛  ○問遷善▒是改過否                          心經   
曰  不然  遷善字輕  改過字重  遷善如渗淡之物                                                        心經   
要使之白  改過如黑之物  要使之白  用力自是不同  遷善者                                              心經   
但見人做得一事强我  心有所未安  卽▒遷之  若改過須是大段勇猛                                        心經   
始得  ○  勉齋黃氏曰  損益之義大矣  聖人獨有取於懲忿窒慾遷善改過                                    心經   
何哉  正心脩身者  學問之大端  而齊家治國平天下之本也                                                心經

今人乃謂聖本生知  非學可至  而所以▒學者  不過記誦文辭之間                                          心經

○  張子曰  天體物而不遺  猶仁體事而無不在也  禮儀三百  威儀三千                                    心經   
無一物之非仁也  昊天曰明  及爾出王  昊天曰旦  及爾游衍                                              心經

      朱子曰  體物猶言▒物之體也  蓋物物有箇天理  體事謂事事是仁做出來                              心經   
      如禮儀三百威儀三千  須是仁做  始得  凡言體                                                    心經   
      ▒是做他那骨子  ○  問此段  莫是言人之所以▒人者                                              心經   
      皆天之所▒  故雖起居動作之頃  而所謂天者未嘗不在也                                            心經   
      曰  公說天體物不遺  ▒說得是  則所以理會不透 是                                              心經   
      以天與仁▒有二也  今須將聖賢言仁處    就自家身上思量                                          心經   
      久之自見  ○  又曰  橫渠此語  是將赤心片片說與人  荀楊何曾有此                                心經   
      ○  按張子此言  正是發明克己▒禮▒仁之義○                                                    心經   
又曰  學者且須觀禮  蓋禮者  滋養人德性    又使人有常業                                              心經   
守得定  非禮勿言  非禮勿動  卽是養之之術                                                            心經   
      又曰  載  所以使學者先學禮者  只▒學禮  則▒除去世俗一副當習熟纏繞                            心經   
      譬之延蔓之物  解纏繞將上去  苟能除去世習                                                      心經

○  朱子曰  顔子克己  如紅爐上一點雪  ○  又曰    顔子生平                                          心經   
只是受用克己▒禮四箇字  ○  又曰  孔子告顔子以克己▒禮  語雖切                                      心經   
看見不似告樊遲居處恭執事敬與人忠▒詳細  蓋▒樊遲未會見得箇己是甚                                    心經   
禮是甚  只分曉說  敎恁地做去  ○  又曰  禮是自家本有底                                              心經   
乃使促園▒  不是待克了己  方去▒禮  克得那一分一分人欲去                                            心經   
▒▒得這一分天理來  ○  問尋常遇事時  也知此▒天理                                                  心經   
彼▒人欲  及到做時  乃▒人欲引去  事己▒悔  如何  曰                                                心經   
此▒是無克己工夫  這樣處  極要與他打疊  方得    如一條大路                                          心經   
又有一條小路  明知合行大路  然小路面前  有箇物引▒  自家不知不覺                                    心經   
行從小路去  及至前面荊棘蕪穢  又▒生悔  此▒是天理人欲交戰之機                                      心經   
須遇事之時  ▒與克下  不得苟且放過  ○  又曰                                                        心經   
說文謂勿字似旗▒  此旗一麾  三軍盡退  工夫只在勿字上   見非禮來                                    心經   
則禁止之  ▒克去   克去▒能▒禮                                                                    心經   
      西山▒氏曰  箕子陳洪範五事  曰貌言視聽思    顔淵問仁                                          心經   
      夫子告之以克己▒禮▒仁  至問其目  則又告之曰  非禮勿視聽言動                                  心經   
      而思不與焉  何哉  勿之▒言  禁步之謂也  耳目口鼻因物而動                                      心經   
      非心▒之主宰  其孰能止之  然則勿云者                                                          心經

○  或問顔淵問仁  而夫子告之以此  何也  曰人受天地之中以生                                          心經   
而仁義禮智之性  具於其心  仁雖專主於愛  而實心體之全德  禮則專主於敬                                心經   
而實天理之節文也  然人有是身    則耳目口體之間                                                      心經   
不能無私欲之累  以違於理  而害夫仁  人而不仁    則自其一身                                          心經   
莫適▒主  而事物之間  顚倒錯亂  益無所不至矣  然己者人欲之私也                                      心經   
禮者天理之公也  一心之之中  二者不容▒  而其相去之間                                                心經   
不能以毫髮  出乎則入乎彼  出乎彼則入於此矣    是其克與不克                                          心經   
▒與不▒  如手反覆  如臂屈伸  誠欲▒之    其機固亦在我而已                                          心經   
夫豈他人之所得與哉  顔子之質  幾於聖人  故其問仁  夫子告之                                          心經   
獨▒要切  而詳盡耳  且非禮而勿視聽者  防其自外入而動於▒者也                                        心經   
非禮而勿言動者  謹其自▒出而接於外者也  ▒外交進  ▒仁之功不遺餘力矣                                心經   
顔子於是  請事斯語而力行之  所以三月不違而卒進乎聖人之域也                                          心經   
然熟味聖言  以求顔子之所用力  其機特在勿與不勿之間而已                                              心經   
自是而反  則▒天理  自是而流  則▒人欲  千是而克念                                                  心經   
則▒聖  自是而罔念  則▒狂  特毫忽之間耳  學者可不謹其所操哉                                        心經

必省宗   自誠之動而之善  則如木之自本而   自 而末  上下相達者                                    心經

苟辨之不早  擇之不精  則客或乘主   或代宗矣  學者能於萌動幾微之間                                  心經

      仁山金氏曰  忿 恐懼好樂憂患  四者  喜怒哀樂之發  乃心之用                                    心經   
      而人所不能無者  則何▒於是  而▒以▒不得其正哉                                                心經   
      蓋當怒則怒  怒而不遷  當懼則懼  懼而非   可好則好                                            心經   
      好而非欲  可憂則憂  憂而非傷  是▒得此心體用之正                                              心經   
      而非可以有無言之也  今以傳文觀之  一則曰有所  二則曰有所                                      心經   
      則是心之所  王者在此  其失也固矣    忿而曰忿                                                 心經   
      懼而曰恐懼  好而曰好樂  憂而曰憂患  卽其重疊之辭  則是情之所勝者至此                          心經

必持其志  修身窒欲之方也  ○  致堂胡氏曰  唯酒無量  不及亂                                          心經   
亂者  ▒昏其心志  外喪其威儀  甚則班伯所謂淫亂之原皆在於酒也                                        心經   
聖人飮無定量  亦無亂態  蓋從心所欲  不踰矩  是以如此                                                心經   
學者未能然  當知戒可也  ○  朱子曰  樂記云  好▒無節於▒                                            心經   
知誘於外  不能反躬  天理滅矣  此言情所以流而性之所以失也                                            心經   
情之好▒  本有自然之節  惟其不自覺知  無所涵養而大本不立                                            心經   
是以天則不明於▒  外物又從而誘之  此所以流濫放逸  而不自知也                                        心經

辭讓之心  禮之端也  是非之心  人之端也  人之有是四端也                                              心經   
猶其有四體也  有是四端  而自謂不能者  自賊者也  謂其君不能者                                        心經   
賊其君者也  凡有四端於我者  知皆擴而充之矣  若火之始然泉之始達                                      心經

而以惟心之謂一句結之  正是直指心之體用  而言其周流變化  神明不測之妙也                              心經   
若謂其舍亡致得如此走作  則孔子言心體者  只說得心之病矣                                              心經   
聖人立言命物之意  恐不如此  兼出入兩字有善有▒                                                      心經   
不可皆謂舍亡所致也  又謂心之本體  不可以存亡言    此亦未安                                          心經   
若所操而存者  初非本體  則不知所存者  果▒何物  而又何必以其存▒哉                                  心經   
偶記胡文定公所謂不起不滅  心之體方起方滅  心之用能常操而存                                          心經   
則雖一日之間  百起百滅而心固自若者    自是好語                                                      心經   
但讀者當知所謂不起不滅者  非是塊然不動  無所知覺也  又非百起百滅之中                                心經   
別有一物不起不滅也  但此心瑩然  全無私意  是則寂然之動之本體                                        心經   
其順理而起  順理而滅  斯乃所以感而遂通天下之故者云爾                                                心經   
○  或問牛山之木一意  朱子曰    夜氣如雨露之潤                                                      心經   
良心如萌▒之生  人之良心  雖是有梏亡而彼未嘗不生  梏如被他禁械                                      心經   
在那▒▒不容他轉動  亡如將自家物失去了  又曰  日夜之所息                                            心經   
▒是心  夜氣淸  不所物接  平旦之時  卽此良心發處  惟其所發者少                                      心經   
而是晝之所梏亡者  展轉反覆  是以夜氣不足以存矣                                                      心經   
如睡一覺起來  依前無▒  又曰  良心當初  本有十分  被他展轉梏亡                                      心經   
則他長一分  自家止有九分  明日他  又進一分  自家又退                                                心經   
止有八分  他日會進  自家日會退  此章極精微    非孟子做不得                                          心經   
別人縱有此意  亦形容不得                                                                            心經   
      仁山金氏曰  此章孟子切於救人  山木一段  與良心一段相對                                        心經   
      養與失養亦相對  而養之得失  又在操舍之間  程子又發敬以直▒一句                                心經   
      指示操存之方  可謂切要  學者讀之  急宜警省                                                    心經

○  問人心紛擾時  難把捉  曰  ▒箇是難  持把不能久  又被事物及閑思慮引將去                          心經

雖是難亦須自▒力  常惺惺不要放倒  覺得物欲來  ▒▒緊不要隨他去                                      心經   
若說把持不得  勝他不去  是自壞也  ▒說甚▒仁由己而由人乎哉                                          心經   
○  程子曰  學者患心慮紛亂  不能寧靜  此則天下公病                                                  心經   
學者只要立箇心  此上頭 有商量                                                                      心經

      皆妄  ○  西山▒氏曰  一事有一事之理  人能安定其心                                            心經   
      順其理以應之  則事皆得所  心亦不勞  若擾擾焉以私心處之                                        心經

敬是箇扶策人底道理  人當放肆怠惰時  才敬▒扶策得此心起                                              心經   
常常恁地  雖有些放僻邪侈意思  也自退聽  ○  問居常持敬於靜時最好                                    心經   
及臨事則厭倦  或於臨事時▒力  則覺紛擾  不然則於正存敬時                                            心經   
忽忽▒思慮引去  是三者將何以勝之  曰  今人將敬來別做一事                                            心經   
所以有厭倦  ▒思慮引去  敬只是自家一箇心常惺惺▒是                                                  心經   
不可將來別做一事  又豈可指擎 曲拳塊然在此而後▒敬                                                  心經   
      西山▒氏曰  秦漢以下▒侯儒  皆不知敬▒學問之本  至程子指以示人                                心經   
      而朱子又發明之極其切至  二先生有功于聖門                                                      心經   
      此其最大者也  ○  魯齋許氏曰  ▒學之初  先要持敬  敬則身心收斂                                心經   
      氣不粗暴  淸者愈淸而濁者不得長  美者愈美而▒者不得行                                          心經

身心▒外  初無間隔  所謂心者  固主乎▒而凡視聽言動出處語默之見於外者                                心經   
亦卽此心之用  未嘗離也  今於其空虛不用之處  則操而存之                                              心經   
於其流行運用之實  則棄而不省  此於心之全體  雖得其半而失其半矣                                      心經   
然其所得之半  又必待有所安排布置  然後能存                                                          心經   
故存則有 苗助長之患  否則有舍而不芸之失  是則其所得之半又將不足以自存而失之                        心經   
孰若一主於敬而此心卓然    ▒外動靜之間                                                              心經   
無一毫之隙一息之停哉  ○  問敬通貫動靜而言  然靜時少動時多                                          心經   
恐易得撓亂  朱子曰  如何都靜得  有事須▒應  人在世間  未有無事時節                                  心經   
自早至暮  有許多事  不成說事多撓亂我    且去靜坐                                                    心經   
敬不是如此  若事至前而自家▒要主靜  頑然不應  ▒是心都死了                                          心經

不知當如何  曰  這箇也不須  只管恁地把捉  若要去把捉  又添一箇心                                    心經

念是要做甚 事  若是好事當做  須去幹了  或此事思量未透  須▒思量敎了                                心經

○  問當官事多膠膠擾擾  奈何  曰  他自膠擾  我何與焉                                                心經   
濂溪云  定之以中正仁義而主靜  中與仁是發動處  正是當然定理處                                        心經   
義是截斷處  常要主靜  豈可只管放出不收斂  截斷二字最緊要                                            心經   
○  黃直卿勸先生且謝賓客  數月將息病  先生曰  天生一箇人                                            心經   
▒須▒管天下事  若要不管  須是如楊氏▒我方得  某▒不曾去學得這般學                                  心經

來諭謂靜則▒於虛無  此二字如佛老之論  誠有此患                                                      心經   
若以天理觀之  則動之不能無靜  猶靜之不能無動也  靜之不可不養                                        心經

若收斂都在義理上安頓  無許多胡思亂想則久久    自於物欲上輕                                          心經

      嘗謂林恪曰  放心不獨是走作  喚做放   昏睡去  也卽是放                                        心經

古時英雄豪傑  須先立其本  方以次推及其餘  今公問學都倒了                                            心經   
緩其所急  先其所後  少間使得這身心飛揚悠遠  全無收拾處                                              心經   
而今人不知學底  他心雖放  然猶放得近  今公雖曰知▒學                                                心經   
然▒放得遠  少間會失心去  不可不覺  ○  西山▒氏曰  仁者心之德也                                    心經   
而孟子直以▒人心者  蓋有此心  卽有此仁  心而不仁則非人矣                                            心經   
孔門之言仁多矣  皆指其用功處而言  此則徑擧全體  使人知心卽仁                                        心經   
仁卽心而不可以二視之也  義者人所當行之路   步而不由乎此                                            心經   
則陷於邪僻之徑矣  世之人乃有舍其路而弗由  放其心而不知求者                                          心經   
正猶病風喪心之人  猖狂忘行而不知反也  豈不可哀也哉                                                  心經   
 犬至輕也  放則知求之  人心至重也  放而不知求  借至輕而喩至重                                      心經   
所以使人知警也  然則人心之放  何也  欲 之則放                                                      心經   
利誘之則放  心▒放則其行必差    故孟子始以人心人路 言                                              心經   
而終獨諄諄於放心之求  能求放心  則中有主而行不失矣  求之匪他                                        心經

後乎千萬世之方來  皆在目前  人▒利欲所昏  所以不見此理○                                            心經   
又曰  孟子說先立乎其大者  此語最有力  且看他下一箇立字                                              心經   
昔有人問 先生▒學之道   曰  某只是先立乎其大者  他之學亦自有要                                    心經   
卓然▒起自心  ▒是立  所謂敬以直▒也                                                                心經   
孟子曰  飢者甘食  渴者甘飮  是未得飮食之正也    飢渴害之也                                          心經   
豈惟口腹有飢渴之害  人心亦皆有害    人能無以飢渴之害▒心害                                          心經

與學正相背馳  故學者要寡欲  ○  呂氏曰  欲者  感物而動也                                            心經

      ○  問向蒙見敎  讀書須要涵養  須要浹洽  因言孟子千言萬語                                      心經

      否  曰  某▒見人讀書鹵莽  所以說讀書須當涵養  令胸中有所得耳                                  心經   
      如吾交所說  又 貼一件意思    硬要差排                                                        心經   
      看書豈是如此  又一士友曰  先生涵泳之說  乃杜元凱優而柔之之意                                  心經   
      曰  亦不用如此解說  所謂涵泳  是子細讀書之異名也                                              心經   
      大率與人說話  ▒是難  某只說一箇涵泳  一人硬來差排                                            心經   
      一人硬來解說  此是隨語生解  支離延蔓  少間展轉                                                心經   
      只是添得多說得遠  如此讀書  全不是自做工夫  全無巴鼻                                          心經

滉少時游學漢中  始見此書於逆旅  而求得之  雖中以病廢而有晩悟難成之嘆                                心經   
然而其初感發興起於此事者  此書之力也  故平生尊信此書                                                心經   
亦不在四子近思錄之下矣  及其每讀至篇末也  又未嘗不致疑於其間                                        心經   
以▒吳氏之▒此說何見  篁墩之取此條何意  其無乃有欲率天下                                            心經   
歸陸氏之意歟    ▒而又自解以▒朱子之學大中至正                                                      心經   
無墮於一偏之弊矣  猶自謂有浮泛之失  力戒門人以收斂▒實功夫                                          心經

蓋其三條▒  其一賣題事也而此事梗▒  曾於孤樹 談見之矣                                              心經   
公與劉健齊名而嘗偶言健短於詩  健啣之  此獄之成                                                      心經   
健▒之也  滉以▒賂賣之事  稍知自家有廉隅者不▒  而謂以公之賢求古人心學負天下重名而▒之乎            心經

安知其誣構發劾者不由於承健風旨而然乎  其二  汪循之論謂公於勢利二字                                  心經   
未能擺脫得去  此未知所指▒何事  若果有實事之可指則是自不免上蔡鸚鵡之譏                              心經

有蘇程之室之語  朱子斥之曰    是無異於雜薰  炭於一器之中                                          心經   
欲其芳潔而不   蓋亦難矣  愚謂篁墩之欲同二家  殆亦同歸於允夫之見矣                                  心經   
向使朱子▒有晩同之實  則陸氏之死也  與人書何以嘆其平日大拍頭胡叫喚而遽至此哉                        心經   
又何以憂其說頗行於江湖間  損賢者之志而益愚者之過哉                                                  心經   
又象山嘗告其門人曰  朱元晦如泰山喬嶽                                                                心經   
惟恨其自是己見  不肯聽人說話 [不能盡記  本語大意如此]                                               心經   
是則二氏之平日  未嘗有一語相許以道同也而後人欲牽合附會  强使之同歸                                  心經   
豈可得耶  其見▒誤則其心亦苟  至以是▒▒成書  將以誤天下後世之人也                                  心經   
殊不知已往之跡一定而難易  是非之明無時而可欺                                                        心經   
其所勤苦而僅就者適足以見吾心之 隙而  來天下之譏議                                                  心經   
由是觀之  賂賣之獄  雖曰誣陷而勢利之     恐或有以自召之也                                          心經   
此滉所以嘆傷累月而猶未釋者也  或曰  如子之言  心經其不足尊信乎                                      心經   
曰  是則不然也  吾觀是書  其經則自詩書易以及于程朱說                                                心經   
皆聖賢大訓也  其註則由濂洛關   兼取於後來▒賢之說  無非至言也                                      心經   
何可以篁墩之失而幷大訓至論不▒尊信乎  曰  其他固然矣                                                心經   
至於末章之註也  ▒以朱子說分初晩之異  而以草廬之說終焉  此正與道一編同一規模議論也                  心經   
子何譏斥於道一而反有取於此註耶                                                                      心經   
曰  徒務博文而少緩於約禮  則其弊必至於口耳之習  故朱子於當時                                        心經   
其憂之戒之之切  誠有如此註所引十二條之說  其門人之述行▒                                            心經   
又云晩見▒生 繞於文義  始頗指示本體云云  則尊德性以救文義之弊                                      心經   
非篁墩之說也  乃朱子之意固然也  篁墩於此  但不當區區於初晩之分耳                                    心經   
若其遵朱子之意  贊西山之經    註此於篇終                                                            心經   
欲以 末學之誤  實亦至當而不可易也    況只引朱說而補以▒儒                                          心經   
發明朱說之條  未嘗一言  及於陸氏之學  以▒朱子晩悔而與此合如道一編之所謂乎                          心經   
故滉竊以謂今之學者當知博約兩至  朱子之成功                                                          心經   
二功相益  吾儒之本法  以此讀此經此註而不以篁墩道一編之▒                                            心經   
▒亂於其間  則所以▒聖▒賢之功  端在於此矣  其尊之信之當如何哉                                      心經   
許魯齋嘗曰  吾於小學  敬之如神明  尊之如父母  愚於心經亦云                                          心經   
惟草廬公之說  反▒硏究  終有伊蒲塞氣味  羅整菴之說得之                                              心經   
學者當領其意而擇其言  同者取之  不同者去之  其亦庶乎其可也                                          心經
